Why Kajol never attended JTHJ premiere? She was NOT invited!

Why Kajol never attended JTHJ premiere? She was NOT invited!

The real reason behind Kajol's no-show at the premiere of 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' predates the film's release

After much ado about former Yash Chopra heroine Kajol's no-show at the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, hot comes the gossip that the real reason behind her conspicuous absence rests elsewhere.

The real reason in fact finds its deep roots in the times when hubby Ajay Devgn's Bol Bachchan was in the making. Kajol was extremely upset that Yash Raj Films had demanded Rs 5 lakh from Ajay as a charge to reuse a certain section of their famous Kajra Re song, especially since she had done numerous appearances and cameos in their films free of charge. Apparently, it all started there.

A source adds, `Initially Ajay agreed to pay the amount. However, YRF then hiked the sum to Rs 25 lakh for the 90-second sequence. Ajay was upset and so was Kajol. Ajay later consoled her saying it was all part of the business.`

The ensuing tussle between her home production and Jab tak hai Jaan worsened when Kajol was hard-pressed to take sides. To top it all, YRF apparently did not even extend an invite to the actress to attend the event, which was graced by several former Chopra heroines.

The couple was apparently in a huge dilemma over whether Kajol should agree to grace the gala, given the complicated turn of events.

Another source states, `It was clear that the battle lines were drawn. To Kajol's surprise, YRF did not invite her at all. She was definitely hurt but ultimately she decided to stand by her husband.`

The source finally says, `While Ajay insists that it is a war over who is right and who is wrong, by not inviting Kajol matters have turned worse. He felt that Kajol had nothing to do with it.`

On his part, Ajay Devgn does not mince words on the issue and states, `Yes, Kajol was not seen at the premiere as she was not invited.`

Now, just shake your cellphone to charge it!

You may no longer need to worry about your cellphone battery getting down, as you can now charge it by just shaking it.

An Indian origin scientist and his colleagues at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg are designing a new cellphone charger that turns movement into energy.

Shashank Priya and his team's emergency onboard charger draws energy from the piezoelectric force generated by your fingertips clicking the keypad, your voice – or just by giving the phone a good old shake.

The researchers experimented with zinc oxide, a common piezoelectric material, to see how well it converts vibrations from sound and pressure waves into energy to power a phone.

They subjected the material to sound waves of 100 decibels, which made the material vibrate and produce an electrical current at about 50 millivolts. In a cellphone, the piezoelectric material would be mounted below the keys and convert mechanical vibrations into energy that could be stored for later use.

It wouldn't produce a great deal of power – certainly not nearly enough to continuously operate a phone – but would be sufficient for an emergency situation, said Priya.

"In an emergency you could just shake your cellphone for a few minutes to get enough power to make this one important call," New Scientist quoted him as saying. (ANI)

Alessandra Ambrosio dons $2.5mn bra for Victoria's Secret show

Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio hit the catwalk for the brand's annual show to display a gem-studded bra worth a staggering 2.5 million dollars.

Re-designed every year, for the 2012 show the Fantasy Bra was covered in intricate flowers made out of a massive 5,200 precious and semi-precious stones, the Daily Mail reported.

The gems include amethysts, sapphires, rubies and white, pink and yellow diamonds.

And, like all good outfits, it of course has a matching accessory, a jewel-encrusted belt.

As she stalked down the runway, then partied with her fellow angel Miranda Kerr, Ambrosio looked delighted by her expensive bra.

When told she would be wearing the bra designed by London Jewelers, a company based in Long Island, New York, which features a 20 carat white diamond centerpiece, the model says she was a bit taken aback.

"I wanted to scream," the Brazilian beauty said.

"But I won't lie, I was really worried," she added.

Now, Mastercard with LCD screen, keyboard

Mastercard in Singapore has launched a new credit card that has an LCD display and built-in keyboard.

The card has touch-sensitive buttons and the ability to create a 'one-time password', doing away with the need for a separate device sometimes needed to log in to online banking.

Many people find using security tokens cumbersome given the need to keep it with them in order to use online banking.

According to the BBC, Mastercard's interactive card aims to solve that issue.

"We brainstormed on ways to make it convenient and yet secure for customers," the report quoted V Subba from Standard Chartered Bank, which is collaborating with Mastercard, as saying.

"The question was: instead of sending customers another bulky token, could we replace something which already exists in the customer's wallet? That was when credit, debit and ATM cards immediately came to mind," Subba added.

According to the report, future versions of the card could display added information such as the remaining balance.

The card will be available from January before being rolled out globally.

Dabangg was a turning point in Malaika's life

Dabangg was a turning point in Malaika`s life

Malaika Arora Khan says the day she and her husband Arbaaz Khan decided to become movie producers, was the most important turning point in her life.

"Professionally, there have been many instances which have actually made me the person I am today. But by far, the most special was the day when Arbaaz and I decided to become producers and make a film which is 'Dabangg' and now we are making the sequel. So, professionally, it's the most important turning point in my life," Malaika said at an event to support the Clean Shaven Look for Men campaign.

While 'Dabangg' was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, Arbaaz has himself taken the reins of 'Dabangg 2' in his own hands.

Talking about Arbaaz as a director, Malaika, who had danced to "Munni badnaam" in the first instalment, said: "I am really excited and nervous. It's been superb not just producing this time, but having him direct the film. I have been pretty hands-on, so yes, it's really nerve-wrecking right now".

"Dabangg 2" stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. While Kareena is doing a special song in the film, Malaika will also be seen in a special appearance, which she is keeping under the wraps. However, if reports are to be believed, Malaika has already shot for a peppy number.

"Dabanng 2" is set for release Dec 21.

Hitting the right notes with Salman Khan

Hitting the right notes with Salman Khan

It's his debut as a playback singer and Vikas Bhalla couldn't have asked for more! Not only has 'Po po' been picturised on Salman Khan, it has also crossed more than two million hits on a video sharing site!

`My stars are aligned right I think,` Vikas said with a laugh, when CS met him at his Bandra bungalow. And after making such a smashing debut, Vikas dreams of working with AR Rahman and Asha Bhosle someday! Here, the singer speaks about the song, competition in the music industry and his future plans:

On a song!
I had recorded two tracks which I was keen to pitch for films. I met Salman Khan three months back and he heard the tracks. He immediately called Himesh Reshammiya and told him that I would be doing the vocals for his next song. Himesh heard me and I dubbed it. Now the song has an acoustic and rock version too coming out.

Learning the ropes
My first album came out in 1997. Another album came out after a gap of three or four years. Then I took a long break as there was nothing happening in the music field.

Much later, I did an album but that was not promoted so well. That's when I realised that it doesn't make sense to bring out private albums when they are not doing well. A year ago, I decided that it's time to go for Bollywood. I've never been pushy about my career. Earlier, I was also busy with my acting projects on TV.

I didn't take out time to market myself as a playback singer. I'm learning the ropes now as I feel it's important. I'm making the effort of meeting people. Even as a singer, I've worked upon myself. I'm a trained classical singer but since the past one year, I have been laying a lot of emphasis on my riyaaz.

Song decides the singer
Right now, the music scenario is such that it's not about an actor having a particular voice anymore, but a particular song having a particular voice. And that is better for the song, which is better for the music industry.

A simple example is of 'Tu cheez badi hai mast mast', which was originally sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. When they wanted it for a film, it was sung beautifully by Udit Narayan. But in the current scheme of things, they would have probably retained Nusrat saab's voice.

Go with the flow
Bollywood sells and you have to go with the flow. But I genuinely hope that the independent music industry also takes off. There are a lot of talented musicians who feel lost as there is no outlet. Singers like Lucky Ali or Daler Mehendi have come out with phenomenal music in their private albums. That's the kind of music I would like to hear more often.

Unhappy at not getting an A-list heroine, Ayushmann dumps Kunal Kohli

Unhappy at not getting an A-list heroine, Ayushmann dumps Kunal Kohli

Unhappy at not getting an A-list heroine, Ayushmann Khurrana has opted out of the filmmaker's project

Ayushmann Khurrana may be just one-film old, but he already has his priorities in place. Since he did not approve of the leading lady opposite him in Kunal Kohli's next, the actor decided to walk out of the project.

Our source says, `A few top-notch actresses were being considered for this rom-com. Later, the names of Ileana D'Cruz and Diana Penty had also crossed the minds of the makers. However, their dates didn't match.`

A source close to the actor says, `Contrary to rumours, he left as he did not get the right pairing. He wanted an A-list actress opposite him but that did not happen.`

Ayushmann tells us, `It's not a concept -based film. So the casting and pairing is very important. But I have no qualms working with a newcomer.`

Kangna the gangster!

Kangna the gangster!

The actress gets into gangster mode for an upcoming revenge drama

Kangna Ranaut is all set to get into gangster mode. The actress has been pencilled in for debutant Sai Kabir's upcoming flick that revolves around a female outlaw.

The project is being produced by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Rahul Mittra who earlier made Sahib Biwi aur Gangster together.

Says a source, `Kangna was recently signed for the film. She will be seen as a gun-toting character in the revenge drama.

The film, set in the hinterlands, will have her essay the title role. Considering that she has done the dark 'n' dreary to comedy to chic roles, she feels this will showcase her in new light.`

Like Dhulia's Irrfan-starrer Paan Singh Tomar, this gangster flick will also be shot in Madhya Pradesh. Interestingly this is the same project for which there was earlier buzz that Tabu was to essay the pivotal role. But it seems that they opted for Kangs instead.

The film's writer-director Sai Kabir had penned the dialogues in the Sanjay Dutt-starrer Lamhaa and the screenplay for the Shahid Kapoor-Vidya Balan film Kismet Konnection.

He was slated to make his debut as director with Chemistry, a film produced by Shreyas Talpade featuring the actor along with Tanishaa and Soha Ali Khan. The film though shot in Paris has yet to see light of day.

I have been cheated: Rajesh Khanna's lady-love Anita Advani

I have been cheated: Rajesh Khanna`s lady-love Anita Advani

Anita Advani, who claims to be late Rajesh Khanna's live-in partner, has sent a notice to the late superstar's family for evicting her from his bungalow.

"I have been cheated. How can anybody do this? I am extremely upset," Advani told.

"We have sent the notice and I am going to fight for justice. A woman should not suffer all her life like this. Women should have the right to fight for justice. Manohar Shetty is my lawyer," she added.

According to media reports, Advani filed a domestic violence case in a Bandra court.

On Thursday, the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate ordered notices to be served to Rajesh Khanna's wife Dimple Kapadia, son-in-law and actor Akshay Kumar and daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinki Saran.

Advani says she has spent the best time with Rajesh Khanna.

"It was the most memorable time of my life and nobody can take it away from me. I had spent the best phase of my life with him.

"The journey was sweet and sour - I have some good memories and some horrifying memories as well."

She claims she had a cordial relationship with the actor's family before he passed away in July.

"But things changed during the end. It's really sad. I don't want to talk about it," Advani said.

She hopes she is granted protection under the Domestic Violence Act and allowed access to Ashirwad, Rajesh Khanna's bungalow in Bandra, where she claimed to have lived with the actor since 2003.

Her lawyer Shetty told: "The respondents will have to reply Nov 27. Anita has been humiliated and removed from Ashirwad by the family members, which is unfair." When contacted, the late actor's close family friend Vijay Zaveri said: "We don't want to comment on it."

I have no plans to marry Kunal Khemu: Soha Ali Khan

I have no plans to marry Kunal Khemu: Soha Ali Khan

After Saif and Kareena's much-hyped wedding last month, sister Soha Ali Khan says the newly married couple are back on the sets and are busy in shooting their films

Saif, 42 and Kareena, 32, had a lavish five-day wedding in Mumbai and Delhi. "They are back to reel life and both are busy with their respective films.

Bhai (Saif) is working on Tigmanshu Dhulia's upcoming film 'Bullet Raja'. The marriage was a very understated affair and there weren't any typical traditional ceremonies," Soha said. The 34-year-old actress was in the Capital with her boyfriend Kunal Khemu to launch the first look Autumn Winter '12 collection' of high-end luxury store Bally here.

Asked about her marriage plans, Soha said, "A marriage has just happened in the house so at the moment I have no plans to get married. Kunal is is very passionate about whatever he does be it films, be it music or be it his family."

Soha is currently busy with Tigmanshu Dhulia's "Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster 2" and says she is excited to play a tormented wife of Irrfan Khan in the sequel of hit 2011 thriller. "I am playing the role of biwi (wife) in the film and there are not one but two wives in the film, so you can understand what will be happening under one roof.

The film is set in a particular house, particular society and then there is election and lot more things. The film is true to the director's style and he is a genius," she said. Soha, who is the new entry to the film along with Irrfan, said she did not face any problems in getting along with the other actors, which include Mahi Gill, Jimmy Sheirgill and Pravesh Rana.

"If you are joining as a new person where everyone has gelled with others then it is difficult, but I am a very friendly person and I adjust very quickly. So I got on fine with everyone. The script has been written in such a way that every character has got justice," she said. The film is expected to hit theatres on March 8, 2013.

Aamir bends his own rules for Talaash

Aamir bends his own rules for Talaash

He is known for his meticulous planning and early promotion of his films, but superstar Aamir Khan has bent his own rules for "Talaash", which hits screens Nov 30.

With two biggies - "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (JTHJ) and "Son of Sardaar" (SOS) - gearing up for release this Diwali Nov 13, Aamir strategically decided to stay away from any animosity by scheduling the promotions of "Talaash" post the festival.

Confirming the news, a spokesperson from Aamir's team told: "Yes, Aamir will start full-scale promotion of 'Talaash' after Diwali."

After completing a gruelling film schedule of "Dhoom 3" in Chicago, Aamir is back in the city since almost two weeks, but all this while he kept a low profile because he didn't want to barge into the space that the two biggies needed before their release, said a source.

To be precise, he plans to roll out the promotions post Nov 16.

Not a bad strategy as the simultaneous release of JTHJ and SOS has created enough controversies for the time being.

Directed by Reema Kagti, "Talaash", a thriller, has several highlights - it will see Aamir with two actresses Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, a factor which is not so common in his films.

Also, the film has captured local areas of Mumbai, which are gradually being demolished. It has been shot in areas like Charni Road, Lower Parel, Colaba, Grant Road and Central Bombay to add the actual flavour of the city in the movie.

Two places - the chawls and mills - in Lower Parel have already given way to construction. Kagti said: "Real locations... mostly old structures and buildings that are fast fading from Mumbai, are used."

This will be Aamir's first big release after "3 Idiots", which came in 2009. No wonder, expectations are high from the film. Also, Aamir is known for devising innovative strategies to promote his films, so the industry is waiting to see what he does to pep up the buzz around "Talaash".

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Tears, Memories in Yashji's Home Town

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Tears, Memories in Yashji`s Home Town

By Subhash K Jha

Jalandhar is where Yash Chopra spent his formative years. That's the town where Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma visited on Wednesday to promote Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) and to inaugurate a new media course in the distinguished director's name at the Doaba College in Jalandhar where Yashji studied.

Apparently Jalandhar was where Yashji's most yummy youthful yearnings were ensconced. According to a source close to Yash Chopra before his death he had expressed a wish to visit his hometown with team of JTHJ.

According to Yashraj's spokesperson, `We were to start our promotions for JTHJ with Yashji taking his cast to Jalandhar. This is their tribute to him. `

We hear the journey back to Yashji's roots was an extremely emotional one for SRK, Katrina and Anushka.

Katrina, we hear, was specially moved.

`She had become lately very attached to Yashji, almost the father figure missing from her own life. During the long shooting schedules in London Yashji would sit and talk about life with Katrina.

He would take genuine interest in her life, ask about her family, her home, her dreams. She had never shared a rapport like this with anyone. ` The journey to Jalandhar left the core cast of JTHJ shaken to the core.

Yashji's sons Aditya and Uday Chopra were conspicuously absent from the entourage.

The explanation being offered by someone close to the family is, `Adi is not likely to make public appearances, no matter how strong the incentive.

As for Uday he is personally supervising all the details of the JTHJ premiere on Monday. Shah Rukh, Katrina and Anushka were as attached to Yashji as Adi and Uday. For that matter Karan Johar has taken the blow (Yashji's death) very hard. Any of these are perfectly qualified to represent Yashji at any occasion. `

When pushed on whether 39 is too old to start a family, she said: "I see lots of women having beautiful children later in life. And, if not, just freeze your eggs!"

Freezing eggs has become popular with female celebrities who want to choose when to have a baby, but Scherzinger is adamant that when she has kids she will raise them in a traditional way.

"When I'm a mum, I'm not going to be one of those mums who has nannies," she said.
