Facebook pictures can cost you a job!

Facebook users beware! Having inappropriate pictures on your profile could cost you a job, a new research has found.

Researchers warned of increase in employers checking candidates lifestyle, attitudes and even appearance in photos loaded on Facebook profiles. In one of the biggest ever studies of the importance of Facebook profiles among job hunters, American scientists found that employees increasingly use the social networking site to weed out unsuitable candidates, the Daily Mail reported.

"While employers are using Facebook to monitor their employees, they have also begun to use it as a screening tool when considering potential candidates," said Vanessa de la Llama of the Florida International University in North Miami.

However, the lack of guidelines means many firms simply follow their own judgement of just how bad your Facebook profile pictures are.

"Because this is a fairly new trend, a standardized set of guidelines has yet to be established, with employers often assessing job applicants in a subjective manner," said Llama, who led the research.

The research team interviewed representatives from the areas of information technology, healthcare and wellness, education, law enforcement, food and drink, travel, advertising and suggest that their findings shed light on a growing trend.

They hope to raise the ethical questions for debate surrounding whether or not employers should be using Facebook and other social networks to screen candidates.

"The question of whether employers are providing job candidates with equal opportunities if they are assessing on-line "image" prior to interviewing candidates must be raised," they said in the report.

"Of course, it is possible that one's Facebook activity is a perfectly acceptable window on to one's personality."

Facebook itself has already said that the practice, which has been documented at several American organisations, is a violation of its terms of use and could potentially lead to legal action.

Now, send a long-distance kiss with 'kissinger'

If you"re missing your partner and fancy a smooch , a new messaging device can help you fulfil your wish.

The device dubbed Kissenger and unveiled at the Designing Interactive Systems conference in Newcastle, UK, in June, lets users send kisses wirelessly to one another. Developed by Singapore-based Lovotics, Kissenger comprises a pair of pressure-sensitive soft plastic lips, which protrude through a smooth plastic casing the size of a large Easter egg.

The lips contain pressure sensors and actuators. When you kiss them, the shape changes you create are transmitted in real time over the net to a receiving Kissenger.

There, the actuators reproduce the mirror image of the pressure patterns you created- magically transmitting your smacker to your partner.

"People have found it a very positive way to improve intimacy in communications with their partners when they are apart," New Scientist quoted Hooman Samani of Lovotics, as saying.

The device is a prototype and Samani said it would not be commercialised until "all the ethical and technical considerations are covered".

Also he has pointed that he’s not interested in sexual uses for it.

Marathon sex with 5 wives kills man

A wealthy businessman from Nigeria - and husband to six women - died after allegedly being forced into a marathon sex session with his elder five wives after they became jealous when the man had sex with his youngest spouse.

Uroko Onoja was having sex with his youngest wife, when the remaining five came on to him with knives and sticks, and allegedly demanded that he have sex with each of them too, the Daily Mail reported.

Onoja, from Ogbadibo in Benue state, had sex with four of the women in succession, but stopped breathing while in bed with the fifth.

Two women were arrested after the incident.

Onoja reportedly returned from a bar around 3am on Tuesday, and headed for the bedroom of his youngest wife.

His five other wives - who held a meeting before their husband arrived home - allegedly burst into the bedroom armed with knives and sticks to insist that the man has sex with them too.

The man reportedly resisted the demands of his wives before being overpowered.

The youngest wife said the five women ran into the forest when they realised their exhausted husband was dead.

Men and women cannot be 'just' friends

Men's friendships with the opposite sex are driven by sexual attraction, regardless of whether they are single, a new study has revealed.

However, women are more likely to consider their friendships with men as platonic – and only hope for more if their own relationship is in trouble, the Daily Mail reported.

The scientists' findings mirror the plot of 1989 film When Harry Met Sally, in which Harry, played by Billy Crystal, tells Meg Ryan’s Sally "Men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way."

According to the researchers, the study had 'potential negative consequences' for people in long-term relationships.

They said the impact of work, hobbies and university has seen friendships between men and women reach unprecedented levels.

But our mating instincts, which have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years, may get in the way.

In a survey, 88 pairs of young male and female friends were asked to rate their attraction to each other in a confidential questionnaire.

Men – whether attached or single – were more likely to be attracted to their female friends and want to go on a date with them than the other way around.

They also assumed their female friends were more romantically interested in them than they actually were – and women tended to be unaware of this.

Single and attached women showed the same level of attraction to their male friend. But attached women tended only to want something to come of that attraction if their relationship was in trouble.

Women were also less attracted to attached men.

A second questionnaire for 140 middle-aged people, who were almost all married, found levels of attraction between male and female friends fairly equal.

Middle-aged men's attraction to their female friends was much lower than that of the younger men, except among those who were single. For women, levels of attraction had stayed the same.

Participants of both questionnaires said they gained benefits from friendship with the opposite sex including getting good advice and boosting their confidence.

Those who did harbour a secret crush were five times more likely to see it as a potential problem than a benefit. But more men than women saw it as a perk.

The authors of the study, from the University of Wisconsin, said that films and television programmes had helped instill the idea that normal friends can easily become 'friends with benefits' – friends who have sex with each other.

The study has been published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.

Yashraj Films won't screen Ek Tha Tiger for RAW agent's family

Yashraj Films won`t screen Ek Tha Tiger for RAW agent`s family
Yashraj Films won’t screen the new Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger for the family of the former RAW agent Ravindra Kaushik. The family of the deceased agent has sent the makers of Ek Tha Tiger a legal notice asking for a screening of the film.

However a decision has been taken by the production house and director Kabir Khan to keep the film and its content away from public domain.

Kabir Khan proclaims, “I read about him in the papers. This is the first time I’ve heard of him. It’s an interesting story. But it’s not the story of my film. ”

Though Kabir won’t say any more one gathers from a source that the film takes Salman on a completely different route from Kaushik’s story.

Says the source, “Kaushik was caught and jailed in Pakistan. He died in prison across there. Salman’s character comes to an entirely different end. That’s why the film is called Ek Tha Tiger. He is like an unsolved mystery. ”

The new mommy returns: I am married I don't live with Shamita

The new mommy returns: I am married I don`t live with Shamita

Motherhood comes with its share of beauty woes. For instance, massive hairfall. However, Shilpa Shetty is not one to let all this bog her down.

The lady was looking gorgeous and even shot for an ad with her sister. In an interview to CS, the glam girls talk about beauty, fashion and shopping:

Camera calls
Shilpa: Shooting for the ad was great fun. We didn`t have to act per se. Our chemistry always comes out well. All in all, it was a fabulous experience. Now, I am married I don`t live with Shamita. Doing the ad meant we could spend time together.

Shamita: After Fareb in 2005, this is the second time we are facing the camera together. It was a nice experience.

Beautiful babes
Shilpa: As sisters, we were unaware of the concept of looking beautiful till we were around 15. Post my 10th standard, I did a beautician`s course and got a hang of beauty, grooming, etc. Today, kids are far more knowledgeable about fashion and beauty. I started following Dimple Kapadia`s hairstyles after watching Ram Lakhan. When it came to acting, Sridevi was my No.1

Shamita: I was a complete tomboy totally engrossed in sports. Most of the time, I would roam around in shorts and T-shirts. When it came to B-town actresses, I idolised Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi for their dancing skills and expressions.

Tress stress
Shilpa: In monsoons, I would tell every girl to condition her hair well. Frizzy hair is a common problem with Indian women, and that can be handled with a good conditioner and serum.

Shamita: My advice would be the same. In case, these don`t work just do a nice ponytail and accessorise with clips. Problem sorted.

Shopping sisters
Shilpa: I hate shopping with Shamita. Whenever we go to a mall, Shamita enters every shop and tries out 30 different outfits. I pick up a couple of outfits and buy them without trying. But we do take each other`s advice as we are our best and worst critics.

Shamita: I trust Shilpa`s choice. She always does something different and makes it look good. Shilpa has always made me do `hatke` stuff. I love shopping with her.

Salman Khan turns teetotaller

Salman Khan turns teetotaller

Sources say that the actor has given up smoking and drinking, mainly due to his health concerns

They say that old habits die hard. But not for Salman Khan. Sources say that the actor has become a teetotaller and has also given up puffing on cigarettes. We hear that the primary reason behind the same could be the actor's recent health scare.

A friend of Salman says, "Salman bhai is in his prime. He is enjoying success like never before and has become extremely disciplined. After his health scare around a year back due to trigeminal neuralgia (nerve pain), Salman does not want to hamper the recovery process any more. That's why he decided that he would quit smoking and drinking."

Apparently, it has been nearly five months now that Sallu has not had a smoke or a drink. Also, in spite of him partying like always before, word is that he has made sure he stays away from any such bad habits.

Our source adds, "Salman is also making sure that he finishes his films as per schedule and is always present on the sets on time. He is also ta

king keen interest in every aspect of the film making including the promotions which he never did earlier." The source further adds, "Salman's illness scared everyone around him and his family. He now does not want to do anything that will upset his family members and quitting drinking and smoking is the first step towards that."

Beat it like Salman!

Interestingly Salman, who had been asked by his doctors not to smoke every since his last health scare, has apparently found an innovative way to get rid of the habit. Word is that Sallu holds a cigarette in his hand but puffs on it without actually lighting it. After he throws it away, the staff goes and retrieves it and the cigarette is then re-used to do the same.

Marilyn Monroe 'may have been lesbian'

Marilyn Monroe, the world's number one sex symbol and the most desirable woman on the planet, was not the man-eating siren that her image suggested, it has been revealed.

Fifty years after her death, an author who met the star has questioned her sexual identity.

Although she married and divorced three times, she was – though few people are aware of the fact – a lesbian by inclination.

She admitted to sexual encounters with actresses Joan Crawford, Barbara Stanwyck, Marlene Dietrich and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as with both her acting coaches, Natasha Lytess and Paula Strasberg.

Only a day before Jean Negulesco, who directed her in 'How To Marry A Millionaire', was due to visit her, Monroe was found dead.

"I still think I might have saved her if I could have got to her in time," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"You know what was wrong with her, don't you?

"Her whole existence was a search for identity, and her sexual identity was a complete lie.

"She told me once she had never had an orgasm with a man in her entire life," he said.

And yet Negulesco's assertion is validated by the taped transcripts of Marilyn's sessions of psychoanalysis with her psychiatrist, Dr Ralph Greenson, at the end of her life.

"What I told you is true when I first became your patient," she says in the transcripts.

"I had never had an orgasm. I well remember you said an orgasm happens in the mind, not the genitals.

"When I did exactly what you told me to do, I would have an orgasm?...? what a difference a word makes.

"You said I would, not I could. Bless you, doctor. What you say is gospel to me," she said.

Another of those who worked with Monroe, actress Celeste Holm, who appeared with her in 'All About Eve', and who died last Sunday, said that Marilyn's sexual problems were rooted in her traumatic childhood.

Born illegitimately in 1926 to an unmarried mother in the charity ward of the Los Angeles General Hospital, she was originally known as Norma Jeane Mortenson, the child of a 24-year-old film negative cutter, Gladys Pearl Monroe Mortenson, who developed schizophrenia.

Both of Gladys's parents, Otis Elmer Monroe and Della Monroe Grainger, lived out their twilight years in mental institutions, while Gladys's brother, Marion, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

So it is small wonder that the child who became Marilyn Monroe grew up with a deep-rooted fear of genetic insanity.

This, according to Celeste Holm, gave Marilyn a lifelong terror of pregnancy.

In addition to her fear of giving birth to an abnormal child, Marilyn suffered from devastating bouts of endometriosis, a gynaecological condition causing intense pelvic pain, severe cramps and painful periods.

It made normal sexual intercourse difficult and uncomfortable.

"Because of this Marilyn was never able to enjoy sex with men," Holm said.

"She was afraid of it, and turned to older women as sexual role models," she had said.

After Marilyn had become a world-famous sex symbol, her first husband, Jim Dougherty, who joined the Merchant Marine in 1943, would brag: "Never had I encountered a girl who so thoroughly enjoyed a sexual union. It made our lovemaking pure joy".

But this, sadly, was far from the truth.

"Jim told me privately that she spent most of their early marriage locked in the bathroom," Martin Evans, a friend of Jim's at the time they married," said.

"She had sex books and manuals that were given to her, and none of them made a difference.

"She was scared. From my information, she even asked if it were possible for her to never have sex with Jim. "Could they just be friends?" she wondered.

"To be honest, I don't think they had a good sex life ever – despite what Jim later claimed," he said.

According to Holm, for years Marilyn was in love with the idea of being Betty Grable – the Forties star known as the Girl With The Million Dollar Legs).

In 1969, Grable said me that she had found Monroe's pursuit of her 'sometimes scary, but you have to understand that all her problems had to do with her not being able to have a child.

Another female star Marilyn pursued and propositioned was Judy Garland, who married three gay men among her five husbands.

Shortly before Marilyn signed with Columbia Pictures in 1948, she met Natasha Lytess, a failed actress who was a drama coach at the studio.

"I want to recreate you. I shall mould you into the great actress I suspect you can be. But to do so, you must submit to me. Do you understand?" she told Marilyn.

In 1950, Marilyn moved into her apartment while she was being escorted by a new father-figure, the venerable Hollywood agent Johnny Hyde.

When Hyde died from a heart attack in December 1950, Natasha rescued Marilyn from a suicide attempt with a drug overdose.

Marilyn told her close friend, actor Ted Jordan, that she and Natasha were sleeping together.
